A Day in The Life: DME Hockey Academy Curriculum

A Day at DME Hockey Academy: Although this list gives an outline of the regular itinerary, the advantage of working with a skilled professional coach, Eric Perrin, is that he will be able to adjust the daily schedule to adapt to the needs of the Hockey Academy players.

Morning: Players will arrive at the Daytona Ice Arena to begin their day with DME Hockey Academy

  • Daily: Off ice and on ice warm up to prepare for training session
  • Daily: On ice hockey training and hockey skills development session (1 – 1.5 hrs) that is designed using the American Development Model (ADM) and other successful youth hockey program components concentrating on fundamental hockey skills presented in specific teaching segments throughout the year
  • 3 days per week: following the on-ice training, players will participate in off-ice skills development training sessions that will reinforce the theories and techniques that are taught on ice.
  • Weekly: players will also attend off ice “Chalk Talk” teaching sessions focusing on game/individual situations, team structure and positional play
  • After the daily training sessions are complete, the players will cool down and stretch

After the morning session is completed, those players that attend DME’s Xceed school will be transported back to campus. Other students will be released to their parents or designated adult after the training session.

Synergistic Approach to Hockey Training

DME Hockey Academy was born from an idea to offer players a unique opportunity to develop their fundamental hockey skills so they may reach the pinnacle of their hockey potential. Our hockey academy instructional and mentorship programs are led by former NHL Stanley Cup Champion Eric Perrin.

Eric Perrin serves as the Development Coordinator and Head Instructor of DME’s Hockey Academy. Eric brings 22 years of professional playing experience to this role. Eric received a Division I scholarship from the University of Vermont where he received his Physical Education degree. Following Eric’s collegiate career, he went on to play in the most prestigious leagues in hockey including the NHL, AHL, KHL, NLA (Swiss Elite League) and Liiga (Finnish Elite League). Eric’s numerous achievements include being a Stanley Cup Champion (Tampa Bay Lightning), Liiga Champion and European Cup Champion.

To increase the longevity of his playing career, Eric developed a synergistic approach incorporating continued skills development, innovative training methods, proper nutrition as well as utilizing the latest in recovery techniques. He truly believes utilizing this approach fostered his ability to continually compete at the highest levels of the sport and stay relevant during his 22-year professional hockey career. Eric is now using this same synergistic approach to form the foundation of DME Hockey Academy.

Through DME’s Hockey Academy, Eric has taken his numerous years of playing experience, as well as his involvement with youth hockey in Finland, Canada, and USA Hockey to create an elite hockey training and development program. As a player, Eric approached the game of hockey with a quest for learning and desire to continually improve. As a leader both on the ice and in the locker room, Eric was known for his positive attitude and professionalism. He couples these qualities with his advanced knowledge of the game of hockey and his love for teaching to provide an unequalled opportunity for players to be trained and mentored by him in our Academy.
